Weardale Wordfest

Literary festival in Weardale

Weardale Wordfest website information

Weardale Wordfest is an annual community book festival in this beautiful County Durham dale. There are opportunities to attend workshops and hear local authors and poets share their work.

Workshops begin on October 12 and the festival culminates on 25 – 27 October with the Weardale Wordfest weekend.

I am lucky enough to be one of the contributors to this year’s festival and will be reading from my new poetry collection ‘A Pease Myers Pastoral’ on Sunday October 27

A Pease Myers Pastoral

‘A Pease Myers Pastoral’ stems from my time as a MA Creative Writing student at Newcastle University. Initially, I was interested in writing fiction for children but a poetry module called “Finding Places’ caught my attention and I began to write poetry.

Living on a hill farm in Stanhope, Weardale is both hard and a privilege. The tension between living in a beautiful environment and the harsh realities of farming is palpable. My poems reflect this.

My poetry collection is being published by a small press in Carlisle – The Caldew Press and is at the printers as I type. Hopefully, it will be ready for the book festival.
